I love baseball uniforms, especially uniforms from days of yesteryear. There are so many great looking uniforms from the past, many of which have been emulated by current uniform designers. Thankfully now, almost every team wears these old uniforms for a few games each season, so we can see what these uni's look like live and in person.
Below are my 5 favorite uniforms of all time, when possible I've tried to include a picture of a current player wearing the "throwback" version of the uniform.
Late 1960's Oakland A's.
The A's had many, many combinations that they wore during this time period. Some of them were hideous, but this version, the white vest with the green undershirt and green cap is the best. It's my favorite uniform of all time. It seems the players always wore green caps, and at some point their coaches wore white with this uniform, but in the dark recesses of my mind there is a memory of someone wearing this uniform with a white cap that had a green bill. However, I was unable to find an actual picture of that combination. I've included the picture of that cap for you to imagine what it would like with the uniform.
The Astros Shooting Star. There are 2 versions of this uniform. The orange version and the navy blue. Both are excellent, so I've included both.
The Cubs early 1950's Ernie Banks era uni's. Love these, simple and elegant.
Hank Aaron mid 1970's era Braves uniforms are sweet, both the home and away versions.
Roberto Clemente late 60's early 70's Pittsburgh Pirates.
